Couldn't find much on the GSM thread. Best hikes?
We really enjoyed Abrams Falls.

Clingmans Dome isn't much of a hike, but definitely worth a stop for the most amazing views.
Alum Cave Trail to Mount LeConte is highly recommended (didn't hike it.)

Those are all truly beautiful parks.  You can easily spend an entire day or two in each.
Have you been in Oct.?

Best NP in October? Ie next week. Preferably in non-red state
Jury Duty: Nothing to do there but chill and write a TR. Kinda like the beach but missing the view and ocean breeze.

Just did GSM last week- beautiful time of year for it.

I also did Shenandoah and Acadia in October. Shenandoah is a letdown if you do GSM first.
Acadia is absolutely stunning but it might be a bit late now- check a foliage map.

FWIW I was in Yellowstone and the Tetons last week and the leaves were falling pretty quickly. Today a bunch of roads in Yellowstone were closed for snow and ice.

No experience with anything in Idaho, though Craters of the Moon has been on my list as a place I'd like to make it to one day.

Visited it last week. Highly recommended - it's a strange yet beautiful place.

Going to attempt to do all 3 in a week .
Looking to go Mid October.
On the agenda: Crater lake NP, and the 3 parks in WA.

Tell me more.
Nothing much to tell.  The PNW is one of my favorite parts of the country.  Been to the area June, July, August, September.  Would love to go in October, when I imagine it's beautiful in an autumn way, and with fewer people.  Enjoy your trip!

Looks like all the WA parks are going to get with a week long snow storm starting this Fri.
