how do you book avios?

I can not figure out how to use Avios. Is it done on the aa site? where do you go on the aa site and how do you do it?

sorry for my ignorance. please help

I have tried finding flights on britishairways from all airports in NY to FL and it all shows no flights. What am I doing wrong?

You can use the aa.com site to try and find availability you may not see on britishairways.com

Just log on to your ba account and select 'spending avios'
Select your flight destination and see what they show as available

There is a nice thread with lots of tips and tricks on booking BA which you may want to check out.

Are you searching award flights? Or paid tickets?

 I am logged in. I am searching under "spending avios". I put in dates. From anywhere in NY to miami and fort lauderdale and every time it says no flights. I even searched from Philadelphia.

What does it help to search aa? so you see a flight, then you go to ba and its not there

Read the thread on booking BA award tickets.
Try selecting the 'search seven days before/after' option.

fly from anywhere in NY or Philadelphia on early morning may 14th or evening may 13th. return any time may 19th night or day

If so, I am sorry.
Best way to go about it is to look on aa.com for non stop saaver availability. Then it will show up on ba.com
For your days I'm afraid you are out of luck
