Usually they offer to break up your current credit line.
For example if you have a card with a credit line of 25,000 and that's the most you can get according to your income, they will slash it to 20,000 and give you a new card with a credit limit of 5,000. Call them up and ask them to do it, they will.

I recently finished spending the $750 dollars on a set of four AAdvantage cards(2 for me 2 for my wife), this is the fifth or sixth time I've done this and I did not receive the bonus miles. Does anyone have any experience with this- are they no longer churnable?
This would mark an end to the free gravy train- a true loss for all of us!
Just got them. Much to do about nothing!

With Amex, after you have 4 cc's they won't approve you for more. Try consolidating them. With citi I don't know how it works.

6 consumer and business or 6 each.
With my last few applications, they said since I had 4 cc's- I have 4 each, consumer and business, that I had the maximum they allow, so I had to cancel/consolidate some and them reapply. I guess like everything online, YMMV
