Hmm doubt that's considered grounds for dismissal anymore.

Jury Duty makes good money! Like $17/day. You can use that money to pay the parking charge (about $10.. )

I went when called.

I made a smart aleck comment to one of the lawyers during jury selection. I didn't pre-plan it. Luckily I wasn't chosen and only wasted one day.

I'd be interested in being on a Jury. Every time I've actually gotten called though it hasn't been a good time.

where is this?
In NYC there's currently no exemptions, but you can postpone up to 6 months (IIRC) online. (for the first postponement, I believe you officially need to come in for future postponements)

You gotta make it look like you sincerely want to be impartial, but at the same time make the lawyers unsure about whether or not you'll be able to act impartially.
Whatever you do, don't get up and say "I'm biased" cuz if you do just you'll end up as a juror on a grand jury and you'll be stuck there for a while!

An all-time classic.

I was juror #5 in a high school production of it.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

do not even show up for 1st notice -- when they send next notice
a) tell them never recvd --if u feel must reply
b) tell them moved to bronx brklyn etc any place but not current address -- nyc does not have money or man power to send someone to ur home
c) or go down when u think u must --show them airline ticket going out of country
d) or spend two weeks sitting around court house waiting and hoping not to be selected

I feel like juror #8.  :)

On a serious note it is kind of sad to see this thread. Why not just do your civic duty?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Not everyone works for the Gov and gets paid while on jury duty

I went to jury duty a few weeks after I turned 18. The whole thing is an disorganized joke. I therefore have no interest in going back there.
