I spent 4 days on jury duty while I was in yeshiva and trying to finish nedarim. I didn't get on a case, just sat around waiting to be on a panel, then sat on a panel, then got kicked off the panel, then waited more to be on a panel, then waited in the hall outside the courtroom, then was talked down to by a judge, then sat in the courtroom on a panel, then more waiting in the hall, and more being talked down to, and being told to come at a certain and then being told to wait in the hall for hours, וחזר הדין.
You think it is going to be fun, but it's just a lot of waiting around and being patronized and sanctimoniously disrespected.
Like when the judge tells us they don't need us until 2 the next afternoon, but gleefully notes that we don't have to go into work at all because the whole day is a jury duty day--as if the people in the room can afford to take off the day.
At least I got $160.
