There are many discussions on this forum pointing out the superiorities of both Opera and Firefox over IE. I personally use Opera, but many prefer Firefox. My opinion is that Opera is in and of itself a better browser, but that firefox addons make it better for some.

My original question was regarding internet filters not browsers. Anyone have any comments?

I use KosherNet, but it's not free. However, it's the most unobtrusive and it's one of the only ones which protects the owner from uninstalling it at will.

AS it goes with most things i have koshernet.  It's not bad, it behaves most of the time. If it won't like a site just report it to them they'll approve it pretty fast

Since when is yiddishkeit easy.  they rarely block anything that would be good if they do you just email them and they correct it usually right away. if i wanted everything to work nice and dandy i would not use a filter. It's just like any sifter sometimes something good gets stuck.

K9. Better than any of the Jewish ones, and free'er too. Only because they didn't sponsor an asifa to advertise their product

Nativ USA advertises that they actively "clean up" websites by blocking certain content but allowing the rest.  If a website you need is blocked and not one of the one's they actively clean, you can request for them to clean it, and then unblock it (up to 20 times a month--after that you get charged).  AFAIK, other filters including K9 have password protection for these situations which I find useless (either I can access any site I want with a password or have to have my wife around at all times to enter it?)

So Chaikel's blanket statement notwithstanding--anyone know if these features are as good as advertised?

You may want to check out this document. They show pros/cons of the various filters. More important, the four ways to block children from bypassing them. http://avenuemcomputers.com/asifa/asifa.pdf
