Nice card, overall. But knowing your type of shooting I'd spring for an Extreme or the Lexar equivalent. Waterproof, shockproof, etc.
Good point.

the Lexar equivalent.

fairly terrible 75-300 lens.
What makes it terrible? IOW what do I need to look for if I want a decent telephoto lens?

A few of these should do it.

Funny thing, I was using my camera earlier today and I realized I was using a sandisk extreme 90 MB/s card. (currently $14.99 at Amazon) I totally forgot I ordered it a couple of months ago...
I knew I had a couple of slower ones but I forgot about that one.

Any additional interface between the camera and card (i.e. an adapter) is a potential bottleneck and read/write errors.

So the adapter is a actual interface? Not just a bunch of wires?

In either scenario it'll open you up to issues.

Why?
Sounds like it is a hardware weakness, the more connections you need to make, the higher chance of one going bad and corrupting a operation.
Is it this simple, or am I missing something?

Exactly - but whether that hardware connection is "just wires" or an actual interface, the weakness will still be there.

When ordering pics from Adorama, should I color correct? I edited each image in Lightroom.

Are you color managed to their print profile, using a hardware calibrator? If not, no way that the prints will look precisely the way they look on your screen. In that case, I'd let them color correct.
