Happens to be I hardly took pictures on this trip. I only set up my tripod once, for example.

(Of course "hardly any pictures" means something very different for me than for normal people, but still :)).)

Remove, clean contacts on both the camera and lens, and remount. Solves the issue 99% of the time.

Use a q-tip dipped in alcohol and be gentle.
Still no worky.
Now that this lens doesn't work, what do you recommend I purchase as a good all around lens while still having money left over for gas?
This is the A6000.

Sorry to hear. I'd send it into Sony before I buy a new lens. Even if they charge you for the repair, it should still be reasonable.

Any idea how long that takes? I don't have any other lens at all and would still like to use the camera.

It could be a while... A couple of weeks at least.

Aha, long time. I guess I'll do that also.
Assuming I decide to upgrade a little a get a different one, preferably one with some more zoom, what would our recommend.

A bit off topic but my wife has a food Instagram account and takes pictures with her iPhone 7 Plus and is obsessed with the photography of food...what would be a good cheap gift to get her for this hobby? Example: props, book about food photography...

At the risk of sounding snarky, then how would you know that-

not realy helpful for food photography
?

Macro lenses actually make for really interesting food photos.
