I answered no, and I still was able to open an account, so I don't see how that is illegal.

As for the car rental codes, they sent it to me in the envelope with one of my recent statements. True, they may not want me using it, but if I get sent the code, even if it says for USAA members, I can't see this as so wrong; maybe a "member" means just a bank account...

Neither did I. Got a Dodge Charger from Budget today in NY for $276 for 8 days. I thought I was in trouble when they asked for my USAA card. I just signed up to get the discount so I don't have anything, I didn't even know my number. I just sent a request for them to email me my username because I'd already forgotten it, and then I showed them the email from USAA that said my full name which they compared to my license and gave me the discount.

Moral - bring your card or at least know your number to make it easier.

Just having a member number is not always enough. I don't remember if that is officially according to hertz/usaa or just that some places wont accept it and you would need to show a debit car.

2 intl rentals with Hertz and USAA. Both reps at the station said they won't waive the fee (I'm 24). I called billing dept who put down the notes on my account and told me to forward the confirmation email I have with the USAA and lower total cost over to them. Waiting for a response.

I haven't had this issue intl (my rentals were in Israel, though). What reason did they give?

Said I'm under 25 and they had no idea what USAA was.

That's why I like enterprise w/ the USAA fee waiver. It says on ur conf. page that theres no underage fee for USAA members.

Just had it with Hertz

Not the first time renting with USAA, never had an issue. Now they didn't let me take out the car without removing the USAA discount and adding underage fee.

I never had a problem renting at Hertz with a usaa cdp number but I just tried making a checking account with them and they told me that to make a bank account with them I need to be an active member in the army, although I had my USAA account for a couple of years
