having been on multiple cruises with Holland America, Princess, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian, My opinion is that you that you get what you pay for.  I would suggest that if you can swing it, spend the extra bucks. Theres a reason why some cruise lines are cheaper.   Also look into booking through the Costco travel site. Also if you own 100 shares(or more) of CCL stock you get $100 onboard credit for a 7 day cruise.

hi, I am looking into booking a cruise in may. Which cruise line do you recommend?
thanks

Plenty to eat if you are not makpid on chalav stam besides the standard one step above airline frozen meals.

Regarding Minyan, it depends when you go and where you leave from. We had a nice minyan when we went over shabbos nachamu.

They allowed us to use the ship chapel. We had a minyan every day and a huge one on Shabbos.

anyone here has experience with cruising with a baby? seems like even an infant is considered a person regarding occupancy of rooms, and pays full rate. is there any line that discounts or allows babies to cruise free?

I have never been on a cruise before. I was thinking of going on a 4 night cruise from Port Canaveral, FL to the Bahamas on the Carnival Liberty. It comes out to about $475 per person including taxes and fees for an Oceanview room.

Has anyone ever been on this ship? I have been reading conflicting reviews regarding how nice/good this cruise is and I'm not sure if I should go. Any input?

Thanks

Has anyone had recent experience with kosher food on the carnival lines? I'm reading conflicting reports online...

1) maybe :-)
2) no, I was not on a kosherica cruise before
3) they (should) give you on the ship sea calm pills for free. And they work.

Don't want to just do Alaska on your own?

Everyone on the Antarctica cruise got prescription Scapolomine patches before the cruise and they worked well for most. Worked wonders for me.

I did go through some withdrawal symptoms afterward, though that may have just been after effects of a 10 day cruise.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

my mo-in-law's life dream was to do a kosher alaska cruise (she has rich friends that have told her how amazing it is), and the inlaws and my dad are getting older, so we decided we should just bite the bullet and take them as a special gift (they covered our rent for our first few years and have never let me repay them). will be my most expensive vacation by far so i can't deal with my wife potentially seasick all seven days...
thx for heads up on prescription, we will ask a doctor.

Definitely get the prescription Scopalomine patches. They likely won't be cheap depending on your insurance, but they can make or break your whole trip. I made it to and from Antarctica unscathed with the help of my patch.

Also, try one before you go for 2-3 days to see if it causes you any side effects. I got dilated eyes from them, and many others in our group had dry mouth, and some dry eyes.

For the Drake Passage, I combined with OTC Dramamine and wristbands I got from Amazon. It may have been overkill, but I survived the Drake much better than most, and would rather be safe than sorry.

As far as the cruise, when I once looked into other kosher cruises (not Dan's :), I was told that some of them can have significant kashrus issues. Check to see who's providing the actual hashgacha on your cruise, and make sure you're comfortable with it.

And maybe someone that was on a cruise other then the Antarctica one should chime in if you need the patch etc as it's not the Drake + bigger ships
