Intro APR for 15 months on balance transfers made within 45 days of account opening

Barclays doesn't approve a second card in almost all circumstances.
Iv'e got my wife this card and 3 weeks later applied for US Airways got approved as well without closing first one although only $600 credit line. so YMMV
The way to go is to close your card, wait a week (I can only vouch for a week, might be less), apply for a new card (I can only vouch for a different card, it might not matter. Try it out!) and bam! get approved instantly! (that's what almost all Barclays approvals are)

The evidence is still only from a small number of cases, but it works.

P.S. I don't take responsibility and you can't sue me if it doesn't work.

P.P.S. This is called the SFGM. It's named after the person who helped me discover it.

There are many, many reports of success churning the card without needing a new FFN.

Ask for the annual fee to be waived. It will be. Don't give up after 1 no. The first responders are "relationship managers." They are often unhelpful with the fee. Just ask specifically to speak to "an account specialist." They can waive the fee. If you have trouble getting to an account specialist, you can tell the relationship manager who answers the phone that you were on the line with an account specialist and got disconnected. They should be more than happy to "reconnect" you.

How could he have done that twice without knowing?
I agree , I just say I don't think the card is worth the annual fee...

They don't ask why you signed up if you don't think its worth the annual fee?

The people answering the phones can't waive the AF, they have to transfer you to non-phone-answering reps who actually know what's flying

IMO none if them know what's flying . if they did , we would be out of the game .

anyone know after how many days of the annual fee billing is it generally refundable?

Also how can the miles be prevented from expiring? Do I need to use the card every month? and starting from when?

But i thought one way to prevent that is by using the credit card?

Using your card won't prevent miles and more from expiring.

Does the 50k bonus offer come around often, or would i need to wait another year for that?

Using your card won't prevent miles and more from expiring.
Are you sure?
From the MM Website:

"Your award miles will not expire after 36 months, but will remain valid for an unlimited time if you meet the following conditions:
You have been a Miles & More Credit Card holder for at least 3 months,

andEach month you need to make a minimum of one purchase (that is not returned or refunded) which is eligible for miles with your Miles & More Credit Card. This is only valid for the Miles & More account on which the award miles for the Miles & More Credit Card are credited."

But I'm wondering if i start using it now will it work as the miles were earned 2 years ago.

You're right, what I meant was that activity won't prevent miles from expiring, having an active card does prevent it from expiring, as to if it'll prevent old miles from expiring, probably yes, but I can't confirm.

Of course activity will keep old miles from expiring, otherwise activity isn't doing anything at all (besides actually earning you miles).

I  was working on a one way LH  in biz class  WITH LH miles - ATH-JFK very surprised at the YQ $450.00--VS  about less than $100 with UA miles --- cost in miles LH 52k UA 70

Only good thing with LH miles is availability ? but much less work to accumulate UA miles and  good availability

Is this the standard YQ?

(R/T yq $550)

if yq out of line - why accumulate
