Got one to approve it. Seems like the supervisor/manager is the one who can approve the refund.

I SM'd to ask for the annual fee to be waived and got rejected.
I am going to PUTPAC now and see if I have any better luck.

same here. the first time i called the guy said no off the bat. when i called again, i went about it a different route and the rep sent me to an account specialist. after asking some questions the specialist gave me the refund .

What's that "different route" may I ask? How do you get to the "account specialist?"

i asked the rep how much i spent (was just curious and wanted to make sure that i spent enough to get the 50k), she added everything up plus the annual fee. then i asked if she can waive the annual fee and she said i would need to speak with an account specialist.

I believe the issue is getting multiple cards at one time, not getting multiple cards in general.

What's that "different route" may I ask? How do you get to the "account specialist?"

I have updated the wiki to instruct people how to get the fee waived.

The short of it is this: the first responders are called "relationship managers." Most of them will NOT waive a fee. You just have to say clearly, "I need to have a fee waived. Can you do it or would you like to transfer me to speak to an account specialist?" They will just transfer you and the account specialist will waive the fee no problem.

just called reconsideration and they asked a few questions and then moved some of my line on the newly approved lufthansa card and approved the usair card

i got the arrival card last may, they also asked why i had opened so many cards within the last year or so, i explained because i oversee all expenses of my company and like to cater to each of the employees needs

Then, you really lucked out with the rep. This is practically unheard of.

Yes and no. There is also recently a greater than a 5% chance of getting a second card in general. It's not hard coded (soft, yes for the most part). They might have become a little more lax.

check the terms at the bottom and it will show annual feel waived and that its 35k miles after 1st purchase

I was accepted for the USair and pending on tha Lufthansa.
I'm thinkin of telling them that I want to collect Europian miles for my europian trips and american miles for my american trips. Do people think this will work?
