Applied for Barclays US Airways 40k card. Took like 2 weeks to get a decision. Denied. Called the reconsideration dept today and a super friendly CSR took a look at my app and instantly approved me for $25k credit limit. Asked for AF waived. Couldn't do it. Will call back once card activated and used.

I was denied on the initial app ant 4/30. Just rec'd paper decision in mail yesterday.

got my first statement and the af didn't show up got the bonus points already should i now downgrade my card ? or will i loose my bonus points

I tried applying for another one of these cards and I keep getting an error message that "our system indicates you have submitted an application within the past 30 days". 1) Is there any way around this, or they track it by your social? 2) Would this error be only because I applied for the same card 2X or it would happen even if I tried for a different Barclay Card?

I need to fly to hawaii. I called Miles and More and they told me that theres no way for them to tell me whether there is availability a few months away. It seems from my conversations with them and with United (partner I would fly with) that there arent so many flights given to Miles and More. Does anyone know if theres a way to "guarantee" that there would be availability, otherwise I will probably need to figure out a better way to get to hawaii.

I could be wrong but I do not believe that they open up availability until a few weeks before. I have the same problem - was hoping to use Lufthansa miles to fly in F on United. So much for that. You can try Singapore and Korean (transfer UR) which both have F on Hawaiian for 60k RT. However, in my experience, good luck in getting availability. I tried and haven't been able to find anything for the dates I want.

Yes exactly the point that I wanted to point out to people. do you know about availability on Hawaiian using Singapore or Korean. It might be the same problem. I asked Lufthansa and they had possible availability for the way there but nothing for a return flight anytime in the near future afterwards

I recently called both Singapore and Korean to ask about availability on Hawaiian. The CS reps I spoke to just said there was no availability for the dates I wanted months out and they did not know if or when availability would open up. I suppose all you can do is keep calling. That being said, I'm not willing to wait until the last minute to book.

If youre booking business class a lot of airlines wont release their personal business class seats till close to the date of departure

So much for my MS on the Lufthansa card. What a waste. I want to get rid of my Lufthansa miles now.

From what I understand, if UA has Saver avail, then LH can book it, but I could be wrong.
If I'm right, then there are plenty of business options in the next 2 weeks (and I imagine that always opens up 1-2 weeks before the flight) - just some are on flights w/ only 2 cabins and some require stopovers. I think maybe aiming for F was too dreamy, but "settling" for J even with stops should be just fine for me

I'm not willing to wait to book 2 weeks before a flight in the hope that F opens up. Besides, I need 4 F tickets.
