I'm hoping to make multiple trips to Israel over the next couple of years. I was trying to figure out what the best rewards method for purchasing tickets would be, but the post with the breakdown that Dan points everyone to hasn't been updated in 2 years. Anyone know how much of it is still accurate? Would ask on the post, but there are questions from a year+ ago which were never answered. So if there's a better place to ask, I'm happy to be redirected.

My question boils down to which CC/Reward points and Airline combo I should plan on putting the most focus on? I have 1 RC, and also have a nice chunk in tuition to pay coming up, so would like to channel to the most useful area. I'd likely always fly coach.
Currently I have an Ink Plus and AmEx Everyday, but can apply for others if there are better choices for this purpose.

TIA!

So, I dont really use my presidential plus card anymore, and I'm thinking of getting rid of it, so as not to waste $400. I know this card is no longer being offered. Am I making a mistake by cancelling it?

Have same dilemma. It offers lounge access but would be cheaper for me to buy one pass each time.

Offers premier access which saves waiting on line and priority bags. Like that.
Has avis presidents which is nice but going away.

Earns eqm but doesnt help me much.

Like to think that it helps me get approved for more cards by telling them i have your premium card that you dont even offer anymore. But not sure if that really helps or not.

Waives within 21 day booking  fee but not used that.

Also fee may be going up. Club card is.

Hmmm

Sorry  :)

If you knew you could get it again would be easier to cancel, but since they dont offer, that's the problem.  Wish I could get retention offer, but they havent offered anything recently.

Putting down a $220 deposit on a vacation home. The balance will be paid by check down the road (want minimal records on CC of vacation).  Any card that I;d get any kind of travel benefit or protection in this case, or will i get none really. I will be purchasing travel insurance as well.

In general, when purchasing an airline ticket, is it better to use the credit card for that airline to save paying the luggage fee or sapphire preferred to receive delayed luggage protection?

That would come down to you to decide. By some airlines, I know AA, you don't need to pay with your credit card to get the benefit but just have the card linked to your mileage number. By United its a YMMV to not pay with the card and still get the free bags.

UA is the only one that officially you needs to pay with the card to get free bags.

AA & Delta it is tied to your FFN.

However, they all offer some sort of bonus (2x points etc..) for buying tickets on their airline with their cobranded card.

I live in Canada but have some US credit cards (SPG and United and Ink). I want to book Air Canada tickets to Israel. What is the best card to use? Do any of them have good trip protection?

i need to book a trip to Florida for my mom. i'll be paying for flight, hotel, car rental, food, plus a gift card for her to do whatever...

i have a delta, an SPG, a new Barclay's card that i didn't reach my spend yet, a sapphire, and a freedom.

should i just use the Barclays to help with threshold or should i maximize delta for flights and spg for hotel and sapphire for food?? i can get to threshold with gc/bb/rc but it's a huge PITA

Wouldn't Sapphire be your best all around option?
