Most fee free cards also have extended warranty, but maybe not as flood as Amex. Also, look into which of your Amex cards could be downgraded to a fee free option, so you could keep the same account open.

Could just be using his mobile browser, I know you're on tapa though because you quoted him twice
ETA:  Lol, I just realized that he had posted twice, you hadn't quoted him twice. Yep, definitely tapa

I have been using SPG both personal and business as my go to cards for regular spending.
I'm thinking this may not be the best strategy anymore.
What are the best cards (personal and business) for everyday spend?

the only better options for non bonus situations are either the freedom unlimited or using visa gift cards bought with ink.

why not use a freedom unlimited which is 1.5 then transfer to a reserve which gives %50 more = 2.25 per dollar (assuming you have a FU and a CSR) :)

A) that is assuming you have CSR, and long-term most wont
B) there is a value to having cash now Vs having points that you may or may not use later.
some people travel enough that they wont have a problem cashing out the points but that cant be said for everyone

I remember a more recent list (than the wiki) on DDMS for which credit card to use where.  It was 2-10 months ago IIRC.
Can anyone provide a link?

Is it safe to assume that the SPG Amex card is the best overall choice for spending in Israel being that it effectively offers 1.25 miles per point and sometimes more with transfer bonuses?  All of the Amex bonus categories for gas/groceries are only for US stores. Freedom Unlimited has FX fees, but it's free and I keep it around for USD purchases.

Very little spend on restaurants, transportation and hotels, so 3x CSR and the like aren't a huge lure.  And I think I can usually do much better than 1.5 cents per point when booking award tickets with miles.

Just today I discovered the great options from Israel with JAL and Alaska miles (to US and Hong Kong in business, respectively), which are both SPG partners.

I don't know. Even if you consider SPG the best for you, be prepared with a Visa or MasterCard with no forex fee; I heard Amex is not as widely accepted outside the states.

I'm about to drop thousands of dollars on hardware and building materials for a major home improvement project. Most of it will probably be at Home Depot. Which card would be the best to use? I can sign up for any card at this point.

Ink cash, buy Home Depot GC's at Staples/Office Max.

Actually in Israel, Amex is accepted just about everywhere.  Bank HaPoalim is the processor for Amex in Israel, which is also the processor for Isracard, which is accepted everywhere in Israel (like Visa/Mastercard in the US).  Basically they force Amex acceptance along with the standard Isracard acceptance.

Was my information false or just outdated?

Citi Dividend is a no annual fee card that offers 5% cash back at Home Depot until the end of this month. The maximum cash back you can earn is $300 per year, so you can max it out this month by spending $6000 at Home Depot. If you have a Chase ink and you use your points wisely and you don't mind the gift card route, that is more valuable.
