Depends. Do you need the extra warranty that a CC would offer you? If not, buy discounted GC's and spend them. Otherwise, are you buying from a department store? It all depends on the store you're buying from and how they are categorized by the bank.

Why do you say so? Amex has 2x points by Home Depot until 12/31 for example.

1. a card you're trying to finish targeted spend on (ie. sign up bonus)
2. cards that earn >1 pt/$ for non-category spend, depending on the program you prefer, ie: amex blue business plus, chase freedom unlimited

Do any cards consider EZPass as Travel? or some other category to get bonus?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Yes. Ez pass was triggering travel credit and 3x on the CSR.

FTFM   BUMP

CSR is best at time of renting...?
and which at time of paying upon return?  Assuming no spend requirements, then Amex plat?  CSR?  Arr+?
Arr+ gets real $ credit upon redemption, but at 2x.
CSR still gets 3x in points (once $300 credit is used up)

I believe the ink has phone insurance, but you may not need to buy the phone with it, just pay for the service.

I'm not sure, but it's worth looking into weather the ink covers it if it was only a purchase.
