Still not getting how you get a $55 room for 8000 points. I'm assuming 8000 is directly through the hotel and the $55 is with OTA? Regardless 8000 points has a value of $120 through the UR travel portal, thus making it not worth it at all.
My basic question is when is it worth it to pay real cash $ compared to points, especially for someone who does not sell points. Points are "free" but makes the per night rate more expensive when you give them a value. Cash is out of pocket so even though it is cheaper, it is still real $.

No OTA. Someone else would be paying the points part of the cash ($55) and points price. The UR travel portal does not offer part cash/part points price. It is one or the other if you have enough points in your account.

Actually out of pocket is around $63 (including tax) versus 8000 points (no taxes).
Which is more worthwhile?

Also, which CC? Since Freedom won't work, anything better than 2x with SP.

Still, unless you can't afford the $63, it is the best option. Like I said before 8000 UR would have a value of $120 when spent on travel.

What card to use for JCP&L electric utility bill? Around 200ish/month. Ink isn't paying out 5X.

spg, fu, or blue for business if you are getting 2.3x on all purchases. Or buy a VGC at staples and pay the bill with that

I'm realizing that 90% of my business purchases are coding as "merchandise and supplies - wholesale stores" I use my BP for purchases >5k. Is there a better option?

Appreciate the help if possible.

Our company typically spends 2.4M on Electric, Water, and Gas utilities per year. We want to explore paying these with credit card and be able to maximize points. We researched and are ok with the fees and made sure that the companies take AMEX and most other credit cards.

What is our best option to maximize? How many points can we expect to receive if done correctly? Basically, we want to find out how many points this can translate to.

Thanks so much for any help!

For such a high volume, your best bet is opening around 4 cards simultaneously every 3 months or so, as nothing compares to a good signup bonus. Think assorted Amex Platinums and Gold cards, although obviously start with the various Chase cards (INK!). Considering you'd be earning an average of around 3ppd in various programs, (because for the first 20-40k of spending per quarter you'd be earning at a rate of 7-13ppd, and then you'd drop to 1.5-3ppd (occasionally up to 5pp), 2.4 million would probably translate into a bit more than 7 million points per year. Other benefits aside, that's worth somewhere in the range of 10-14 thousand dollars

thanks! I feel like the signup bonus is going to be pretty insignificant, but obviously would want to go after if that was the best card. So you think start with Chase? I thought i read that you could get 5x on UTL, is that true?

Most cards that offer 3x or 5x on purchases, are capped (not a reason not to use them) thus making them less attractive for spending after the cap is reached. The Freedom Unlimited at 1.5ppd and the Amex Business Platinum at 1.5ppd on purchases over $5k are good cards to have, post reaching caps. I'll leave it to the pros to tell you which to use pre cap. Ink is a good option I'm sure.
