I may not have enough information for this question to be answered:

At some point I will bli neder be buying tickets to E"Y for this summer.  The airline we use depends on the best deal that I can find.  Class will almost certainly be coach.  What is the best card to use?
What cards do you have? With some you may earn free luggage with others you may earn more points.

I have many cards, but if there is a "best" one that I do not have, I can always apply for it.  It has been a while since I traveled internationally.  There is still at least one free bag, right?  If so, I will be purchasing around 8 tickets, so I do not think that luggage will be an issue.  Are there other factors to consider other than points?

IMO, Chase UR point are the most versatile.  They can be transferred to avios or to united.
Amex MR can be transferred to flying blue, which gets you to Europe, and I assume Israel.  But I haven't done that.

Opening new cards is when you get large chunks of points, using cards only add more point slowly.

To open new:
Earning UR: New Ink card 50K with 5k spending.    New SP 40K with 3k spending.
Earning MR: business gold 50K with 5K spending, Prg, others 25K with 1k spending.

For those cards you have, open new ones for your wife.

I am waiting for a "deal" on flights to E"Y next summer.  When it comes up, I am going to purchase pretty quickly.  With that in mind, I want to make sure I have my plan of action figured out right now.  I assume the purchase will be around $10k.

Is it a given that I should use my BGR for 3x, regardless of airline, or are there more things to consider?

Depends if you would rather have 2.14UR or 3MR.

If you do not need purchase protection, use INK to buy GC at OSS.

EZpass is for the SP yes?

And NYC muni-meters is for freedom cards. Specifically if you get 10 points per transaction.
