Using two different accounts to pay for award tickets?

If you are trying to buy award tickets for a family, are you allowed to pull the miles from two accounts (like husband and wife) and still keep everyone on the same reservation? I'm specifically talking about aeroplan or ANA.

How about if husband has united and wife had us airways points?

You can't pool the miles together in any of the above programs.

You are able to book 2 people on the same flight with US and Aeroplan miles.

For example I just booked an award ticket to SIN and BKK and used Aeroplan for myself to get the infant seat and United for my wife. Book United first because you can cancel within 24 hrs then do the AC booking.

depends on what you are doing. If flying with an infant AC is good, etc etc.

I was not giving a rule was just showing how different cases can result in different answers and there is no one size fits all.

Thanks for the replies. I was more referring to both spouses having aeroplan accounts so the currencies would be the same. I just wanted to know if the whole family could stay under one reservation?

While trying to research this, I saw it mentioned somewhere that the names don't have to match if you're transferring MR points to an aeroplan account. Is that true?
