Plane ticket for 6 months+

I intend to leave JFK on Delta in early August to TLV and return to JFK in April.  I have been told that tickets are much more expensive because the trip is longer than 6 months.  Is there any way around this?  I am a Silver Medallion if that helps...  Thanks...

The silver medallion gets you 75% off fares for stays 6 months and longer

how much more expensive?
is it worth it to make the return for earlier, then pay the change fee?
