I'm thinking about booking this..

What would be the pros/cons of that decision?

This thread is for Singapore the country, not the airline.

If you had to choose between spending Shabbos in Singapore or Bangkok, which one would you choose, and why?

If you wait until Jan I'll let you know. I haven't been to SIN  yet, but shabbos in BKK was nice.

Damaxer and I didn't care for it.
AJK liked it.

No other shabbos options?
NRT? CNX? HKG? PEK? PVG?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I've never heard of people spending shabbos in MNL.

There is a Chabad there, and the Philippines outer islands (Palawan) has always been on my bucket list.

Has anyone had recent experience with UberX from Changi (to the Grand Hyatt)? According to this article, it looks like they do pickup at the airport.

Also, would you recommend waiting at the airport (arriving at 3:30a) until the first public transit train at 5:30a? I'll be arriving on SQ in R, so if I do wait at the airport, would I be able to use the Private Room, or is that only for departing flights?

I wouldn't wait an additional two hours for public transpo. IIRC, the drive from SIN to GH isn't very long.

You will not be able to use TPR.

You only have access to Private Room if (1) you're flying out of SIN on F, or (2) you arrived into SIN on SQ flight on F and have a connecting flight on SQ (whether it be F, J or possibly even Y).  If you're PPS Solitaire, you're entitled to use the Krisflyer First Class lounge on arrival, regardless of whether you're taking a SQ or non-SQ flight subsequently.

Otherwise, if you're PPS or have other Star Alliance status, you're entitled to use the Star Alliance lounge, but not the Krisflyer lounge itself.

Thanks. UberX (pending availability) or taxi it'll be. Now if only the GH will let me check in early.

Side point: is a flight that lands at 3:30 considered a redeye? Like do they consider it getting in really late the night before or really early in the day? It's going to be the weirdest time I've ever landed.

Wait, so I can use a lounge even though I can't use the PR? What's PPS Solitaire?

If you want a guaranteed room at that time, you'll have to book the day before you arrive.

If you have *A status or SQ status, you can use the *A lounge on arrival.

I don't need a guaranteed room. I plan on being awake for the day at that point, so if a room is not available I will just leave my bags and go out for the day. That being said how early do you think I can ask for a room without them saying that it's too early to check in? I mean 5 a.m. is awfully early.

No *A status here.

They'll take your bags no problem. Even at 530.  Ask them when you drop off bags.

I guess what I'm asking is: will asking at 4:00 or 5:00a compromise my chances of getting a room (if available) as opposed to asking at a more normal hour like 7:00 or 8:00? Also do you think calling in advance is a good idea?

Personally, I'd try at 5am when I'm dropping off bags. Worse they say is "no, come back at X."

Fine to call/write in advance, but highly unlikely they'll guarantee you a room; they'll likely say we'll accommodate if possible.
