How far was the GH from the shul and food (in terms of shabbos)? Walk-able?
Thinking of staying there or splitting it up and going to the IC just for shabbos

Food and shuls can't really say. but Seems to be around a 30 minute walk or so.. Definitely a nice hotel though.

Ended up staying in Grand Hyatt. Used suite upgrade cert. Got the one suite that is duplex, at least according to the Lounge Rep there was only one of them.
how many people can stay in a duplex (adults/children)?  one bedroom?

One bedroom whole second floor. Would say at least 5.. even a lot more depending how comfortable you want to be

Its not only about how many can stay, its also how many are allowed to stay
Most hotels will not allow more then a amount per room for fire and insurance reasons.
Also note, that most hotels will charge extra for a rollaway bed

The carlton wanted 85 a night per extra bed, so i just took another room, as we needed 2 of them

i dont recall having a bad experience with taxis in singapore
I struck up an interesting conversation with a cabbie in SIN, I ended up treating him to coffee.

(his story involved rescuing an Israeli who was held hostage in some scary undercover operation)

The carlton had connecting rooms.
As i traveler with 5 kids, i anyway needed 1 extra bed in each room. So that was 160 extra, for that money, i was able to get another room. So i had 3 connecting rooms. We slept in middle one and had 2 kids connecting one side, 2 kids on the other side

Baby slept ina cot for free in our room

Is there a reason I shoudn't stay at the Grand Hyatt from Friday-Tuesday?

If one is arriving in SIN at 8:10 PM on a Thursday night, is staying until Monday morning (10 AM flight) enough time to enjoy it? Or is it really imperative to stay another day?

Also... if the routing is through HKG anyway, would it make more sense to spend Shabbos in HKG, and skip SIN altogether (by cutting out HKG-SIN and SIN-HKG)? Or is SIN much better for a weekend destination?

Shabbos meals in Singapore have really gone downhill. Staying at the Shangri La and eating at KZ is most convenient and best food.

Would you advise skipping SIN altogether, then? Or is it still better than HKG?

Nope.

I would say spend Shabbat in hkg. I enjoyed it there over Shabbat.

then id do hkg.

Thanks very much for the input, guys. I realize this isn't the thread for it, but... once we're on the topic anyway, let me give you my thought process; if the psak is still HKG, I'll take this to the HKG thread.

Returning to Israel after Pesach, award availability sucks, for obvious reasons. So I had this crazy idea: why not fly around the globe in the other direction? Say, JFK-HKG in CX F (booked via AA) on a Thursday, followed by HKG-TLV in LY J (also booked via AA) after Shabbos. Then, once I got that far, I figured: why not see SIN as well, once I'm at it? Land in HKG at 5 AM Thursday morning, tour HKG until around 3-4 PM, then fly to SIN; spend Shabbos there, then fly SIN-HKG-TLV on CX/LY J after the weekend. So that's how I got to making my original post above. Now...

1) First of all, am I insane? Will I deeply regret flying 15+ hours, followed by 11+ hours a few days later, just to experience CX F (again), as well as Shabbos in HKG/SIN?
2) Part of why I'm considering this is what with the AA/US merger, I'm worried about a massive deval, so I'm thinking to burn my AA while I still can. Am I just being paranoid?
3) Assuming I go ahead with this... so, you guys recommend simply flying JFK-HKG, then HKG-TLV, and not adding in any other flights? The DDFer in me feels that it's a waste to be paying all those miles and not taking advantage of adding more "free" flights, but the practical side of me feels that it's just adding more flying time (and exhaustion), which would be totally unnecessary if HKG is indeed perfect. (Kinda like how just because your ice cream store offers free toppings, that doesn't mean you're gonna enjoy your ice cream more if you pile on 7 kinds of syrup and 4 different kinds of sprinkles - it'll just become sickly sweet). Plus, if I add on SIN, that's another country I can boast having been to, and another shot glass I can add to my collection. >:D Should I nevertheless skip SIN, and just do JFK-HKG, HKG-TLV?

Thanks.
