Delta Companion Pass
« on: May 07, 2013, 10:06:24 AM »
I spoke to a friend yesterday who mentioned a certain companion pass offered by Delta Employees to Friends / Family that provides them some unbelievable benefits. I've never heard of such a pass and the supposed benefits seem just too good, so wanted to run it by the experts here.

This pass apparently provides a 70% discount on tickets that are available, but on a standby basis, even on international tickets. Also, it provides upgrades to business class, and based on what my friend said, the upgrades clear before any other medallion members.

It sounds too crazy, has anyone heard of these before? and if so, how do i get one? lol

how to get one i guess :)

but really, i'm just surprised that it has been discussed in more detail on the forums. and also, do you really get upgraded before all other medallion members? that would really infuriate me if i was a delta diamond.

thanks

Thank you, i appreciate your input.
by knowing someone, you are referring to Delta employees right? can any employee give you this buddy pass? or does it have to be someone high up? and once given, how long are these valid for?

we happen to "know" a senior pilot (you don't get on by first come first serve, its by seniority)
and as far as i know any employee can give you a buddy pass.
you have one year to pay for it and then one year to use it up, and can change it as many times as you want.
correct me if i'm wrong (my mother usually did the legwork :D)

oh ok, so let me see if i get this right.

you pay for it once, and then you have 1 year to use it up right? if so, how much do you have to pay?

Also, you said you can make as many changes as you want. what do you mean by that? changes to what?

and lastly, the seniority issue. so if we are both on standby to get on a flight, and you have a buddy pass from a senior member vs mine lets say is from a regular gate agent. you would get the seat even if you got to the airport after me?

i think just taxes or something, for example: a roundtrip mia(-nyc)-tlv comes out to about $500.
when you pay you have to set a date which you can change as many times as you want on each leg of the trip

yes :P

I'm not 100% sure, but i believe these have the lowest priority for upgrades. the best use for international flights, where there is no complimentary upgrades for medallion members.

Some one offered me a one time Delta Buddy pass seniority 1997

Do you think the odds of me getting my flights in January (JFK-TLV) being that it is not high season, or are they usually full and chances are not that good. (I don't want to get stuck there with not being able to come back!

TY
