Note: I had a friend who was there this week and ordered the half slab and he got the normal half slab. Not just one or two long bones.

So basically whoever goes there gets the real thing, but when your order is delivered they take you for a ride and you get the dummy one. Outrageous.

Or maybe it was a mistake. But it's easy to jump to conclusions and be motzi Shem rah on a non for profit restaurant

I think it was less meat than in the past, but I will say this, we added some of the included BBQ sauce, heated it up for a few hours, and it was outrageously good.

Could have very well been a mistake.. Every place makes a mistake here and there.

Maitre D' and the chef both said that it wasn't a mistake.  Said the bones on mine were much longer and had as much meat as the shorter version with 5-6 bones.

For my money I don't think that's true (and even if it is the same total weight somehow, it's still not as much meat.)

Either way I wouldn't order the ribs when there--they're significantly better when doused in BBQ sauce and cooked for another day.

I am sorry, Dan, that the ribs didn't seem as plentiful as they were last year. By weight, they are the same. We switched from using back ribs to short ribs a few months ago due to supply issues. As most people know, the price of kosher beef has gone up over 30% in recent weeks due to shortages. We have not raised our prices (yet) in a year. With all that said, although it looks deceiving, the amount of meat is roughly the same as before (there is way more meat on the bone as opposed to between them), and I even made those two sandwiches using the meat from a half slab. Aside from all that, I am glad you enjoyed the food!

Here is a picture as an example of the difference. If you want a full 5-bone slab of this stuff, it's gonna be a good $75.

Personally, I'd rather pay $75 for a full 5-bone slab of the larger ones than $50 for two, or effectively $25/rib (!). At least with that, I'd have the illusion of getting my money's worth ;)

Thanks for chiming in Chef Bryan.

Just had the rib sandwich for dinner tonight.  Crazy that half a slab makes 2 of those, I guess looks really are deceiving. Really should put that on the regular menu, I think it's your strongest dish.

Though the burger and chili are pretty darn good as well.
