Bagel country is great for breakfast/lunch. It can be a bit pricey, but the food is good.

After reading the thread a few questions for a Chi road trip:

1. Are there any cool things to do in a city close to Chicago (within 2 hours drive) -I think Milwaukee is driving distance...how far is detroit and is there anything there besides 8 mile?

2. Anyone know the hours of chi restraunts -anything decent that's open late?

3. Are any of the museams worth seeing and any discounts people know of (besides free days i found that already)

4.

1) check out the sears tower, its pretty cool to look down from the 103rd floor, also check out the navy pier its a bit overpriced but its something to do
2)i don't think there is anything open late in Chicago, but i know that taboun is open after 9pm and that shallots "last seating" is 9 (btw shallots has very good food)

If you are coming from New York you will be shocked at how nothing is open late in Chicago. I tried to get pizza at like 730 and I went to a store and it was closed.

In terms of things to do:I bought the go card (google it)-it's a little bit expensive but it gets you into every attraction in the city (all the museums, sears towers, boat ride, navy pier rides, bus tours, and just about anything else). I really enjoy it because you wouldn't pay $25 to go on a boat ride, but after having paid for the card everything is free so you don't feel guilty about it. Same thing about a museum-$20 to go in for an hour is a little extreme, but you don't feel guilty and you can go in and out quickly because it's all included

Thank you all....how far is shallets from city?

Shallots is in skokie. North of the city. Depends where in the city you are....
Without traffic: Without traffic about 25 min from the magnificent mile. From the jewish community? About 5 minutes...again depending where you are coming from

Sure, but which restaurants did you go to?

Maybe STL?  MSP?

Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

St. Louis....sounds intriguing...I'll look into it. With regard to Cleveland, I'll admit I haven't done all there is to do certainly in regard to the food department...hey, if two relaxing days can be had there - suggest some options and I'll be there!

Thanks!

PS If you're desperate, I can bring you some Salmon Pasta w/ Fries from Fish Grill while I'm at. :)
