sometimes when you reserve the car through hertz.ca or some other country you don't pay some tax. YMMV. Do at your own risk.

Do you think I'll b able to pull up at curbside, quickly hand the guy my ID & BP and a tip, and grab the 2 boxes of meat and check them without being forced to move my car? Theres no way for me to shlep the boxes on and off the rental shuttle.

If there is no line curbside you should be able to do that. Have boarding pass and ID ready to give him. You can't plan for this as there could be a line at curbside. If you have someone else with you that can wait in the car you should be ok. You can also pay to park in the short term lot and then check in your bags and then bring the car rental back afterwards.

Strawberry shortcake at shallots - is the cookie a sponge cake texture or more of a soft sugar cookie texture? Can it be easily cut with a spoon?

I'll prob end up doing both at this point.  Looking to get away from NYC for weekend.  I would like to stay at a Hyatt.  How's the PH location?  Also where should I pickup food for Shabbat?

Great location for shopping and sightseeing. I find downtown Chicago less exciting than other downtowns on shabbas - but maybe that's bc I'm from there  :P
