Many owners with the money to invest have 0 desire to manage the restaurant.
And you REALLY missed the point.

501c3= tax free. Owner usually takes home say $150K. SO now he can take home the same amount and give all would be taxes to charity of his choice.

If he takes home $150K as salary he'll owe tax on it.
He would've been better off taking home everything as salary and then donating it all to charity to avoid taxes.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I suppose it would take serious number crunching on a case to case basis. #IANAA

Not sure i understand this...if you take home lets say 500k in salary and then donate 350k leaving you with a 150k salary. You don't pay taxes based on 500k you pay it based on the 150k. Correct? AFAIK charitable contributions only reduce your tax liability by considering it as if you never earned the money in the first place.

Owners "salary" would still not be tax free. Am I not understanding something?

Of course it's after salaries are paid. Did you expect them to operate at a loss like that?
Very interesting question. How about all volunteers and no salaries?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

I've seen mentioning the PH Chicago.
Does anyone have any reviews they can share on the PH Chicago?
Did they give kosher breakfast to Diamonds?

You are missing his point. The owner can take a managers salary of 150K and now you chap?
Trust me, the owner is not taking a salary. He is really doing this to do the community a service (try and help the Lakeview community grow) and give money to charity.

Navy pier is nice (just hope it's not too hot). Maybe that and rent bikes or a boat ride.
Second question is an easy one-milt's

OK..DAN...you were right....

I finally went to Milt's last night....it was great.

you were right about the Milt Burger (and ordering it with EXTRA Bbq aioli). ---*The only things I would add, is to order it with a "pretzel bun", otherwise they bring it to you on a store bought roll.

My wife got the steak sandwich, which was amazing.

I also got a bowl of Brisket Chili - $6 - VERY good (* a lil spicy, but thats what chili is supposed to be)

and the fact that all of the deserts are $5, esp. for a big bowl of cobbler(could serve 3) was even better.

I'm normally looking for things to go wrong/get screwed up, but I would recommend Milt's to anyone.

Im going to Chicago with my wife and we are looking to stay downtown by the river. I see they have a Westin and a Sheraton on the river. Any suggestions which is better? They are about the same price.  Thanks!
