Disappointingly, I tried using my Anniversary Night at the Park and they said they don't take it!  >:(

The reviews for the HR on TA look better than the Mag Mile...

Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

I recently stayed at the W Lake Shore which is the one by the Lake.  It is outdated and overrated.  Furniture is falling apart and  "hip" music is always blaring in the lobby.

You'll also pay over $60 for parking.

+1
Just got back from there. The rooms feel old and in desperate need of a facelift. Also, the bathroom has a window with wooden shutter and door. Thank God we got upgraded to a suite which had another bathroom. I'm married only 10 months but I feel like some things should be private no matter how long you're married. I did here that they are redoing everything though.
All that being said, the view was awesome! Right on the lake... Navy pier is really cool all lit up at night.

We did the architecture boat tour, which was a great way to see some sights of Chicago. We went to Milts and everything we had was delicious, including the Milt's burger, the daily special (a pulled rib sandwich) and the appetizers (fried Okra, the nachos and the sliders). The Okra ended up being on the house, as they said they didn't think we liked it because we had leftovers. In reality, we were just so full from the rest of the food! The chips for the nachos weren't amazing, but overall it was a good dish. The total came to about $60 per couple (we met another couple there so we split the appetizers), which included tax, tip and a house drink.

I ended up doing the Segway tour which was awesome. If you've never tried a Segway before I would definitely recommend it. Navy pier is under construction and was a real letdown.
We went to milts Sunday night and got all the Ddf favorites. Wasn't so impressed with the fried okra. It's batter is made from corn meal and tastes like the bottom of a pizza crust to me. Nacho chili was excellent and I actually really liked the chips. However, they give you a lot and heap the chili on top so most of them turn soggy by the time you eat them. Being Chanukah, they had a special appetizer of brisket latke which pretty much tasted like a really oily potato latke. Had the milts burger for main and it was really really good. Next time I go I want to try the rack of rib.
Illinois nut was out of taffy apples so I didn't get any on this trip. :-\
Overall not a bad mini vacation....especially since flights and hotel were free thanks to DDF ;D

We did Milt's too and enjoyed Dan's recommendations..
They really pushed the fried okra dish when we were there -- i agree: Interesting, but not delicious.

Milt's burger was good - but the ribs were $38 and they arrived completely charred, dried - not tasty at all!
(Dan didn't recommend it on his list -- i should've listened...)

Really sad that their ribs aren't better.  That's the biggest disappointment about Milt's.
But the burger and chili are outstanding.

Happy to hear they listened to my feedback and improved the chips used!  They said they were going to look into it last time I wrote about that.

My wife and I went to Milt's and,  unfortunately, were disappointed. I had had all the recommended stuff my precious times, so this time I veered off the chosen path and was disappointed. Got the milt dog which was underwhelming at best. And shockingly,  the fried okra was a mere shell of its former self. Gone was the unique flavor and in its place was a bland overly coated piece of waxy okra. Disappointing indeed. Perhaps it was because we went late?

My wife got a soup and some sides and was also left saying "Meh."

If give it another shot based on my first couple of times there, but this last time was a less than stellar experience.

Seems like Burger and Chili/Corn Bread are the only way to go here.
Should've listened to me and done that for lunch and Shallot's for dinner ;)

Yes -- the Milt's burger was the only item that was good --
even the 3 sliders "trio" was not great. 3 dipping sauces.

def trying Shallot's next time. Especially for sushi...

Had to make the bean before sunset, so ended up having a very late lunch, and almost didn't even make it to Milt's after Sandwich Club.

Glad not to have wasted the $$ on a half-full stomach. Save the best for a voracious return.

Not sure how to add to wiki, but slice of life is good. If you like fish, get the grilled tuna steak

Hamachi Sushi is very good. I think it's on California.
they have some dairy items on their menu, too.
