Any motels on Lincoln still open? ;)
+1 to the two DG mentioned. Holiday in is accros the street from Skokie yeshiva and shallots.
Double tree is right near bagel country

I stayed at the holiday in for a bar mitzva that was in skokie yeshiva. If you are coming for a vacation I would highly recommend that you DO NOT stay there.

Well someone coming for Vacation would usually stay downtown. But for someone who wants something near the Jewish community it is a decent place.

only in the newer extension. I was placed in the old part of the building surrounding the indoor, HEAVILY chloridated, pool. No windows in any room, and absolutely stunk from pool. I would rather have stayed in the yeshiva dorms.

what is the hechsher on Eli's? cannot find any on their website. thanks.
I was in ORD airport last week and went to checkout Eli's Cheesecake was gonna try a slice first there is absolutely no certification posted anywhere in this place that it is kosher and was very shocked to see they were selling Ham Sandwiches in their showcase (see photo) at that point I decided I will not buy anything from such a place to me I cannot trust them and makes no sense if they were kosher certified.

You are correct. The actually booth itself is not. But the cheesecakes (except Irish Cream) are kosher. If you look at most of their prepackaged cheese cakes you will see a kosher symbol. The whole business at a whole is not kosher, its not a jewish store, but rather they have kosher things and not kosher things.

the problem is that the cheese cakes are not prepackaged they are whole round cheesecakes and when you buy one they cut a slice for you, so to me it is not reliable to buy a slice of cheese cake from a store that has ham sandwiches next to it, how do you know which knife was used to cut the cheesecake ? there is no jew standing there the server can do whatever he pleases.

Then obviously those are not good, but they are still Kosher. Its the prepackaged cheesecakes that are kosher not the stores or booths..

Its the same as going to a hotel with your own challah and asking the kitchen to cut it for you. The challah is certified kosher just not the knife.

ok so maybe the product itself is kosher, there are people here asking for kosher food in ORD and were told Eli's I think they are being fooled into this place when the fact is that if they want a slice of cheesecake it is a problem it is not prepackaged with a hechsher and most people will think the entire place is kosher including the sandwiches because of the name Eli's and the recommendations that its a kosher place in the airport.

Quick search didn't turn this up.
Wanna go to a game in Wrigley. Do I need to stay in the seats I purchase or are you able to roam the park? (In MIA and Citi for example, you have a wide selection of seats to choose from... ;) )
Buy discounted gift cards from me.

GREAT Chicago news. The Jewel/Osco on Howard and McCormick has the new gourmet, vegan chocolate chips.

Quote from Levana's article today:
Verdict: Vegan Chocolate Chips are delicious.
Dear Kosher consumers, and dear Dairy-Free consumers, your new chocolate chip has just been identified.
Good trailblazer BenZ’s is one of the first to carry it,  let’s hope and pray all health food stores and Kosher supermarkets carry it soon as well:
It will do them proud. Thank you dear Ms Vegan Chocolate Chips for picking up the Trader Joe slack, and best of luck.
After a long and stormy fast day, you made my tongue smile!

$2.99 Going fast -- come and get them. They are right across the Kosher meat shelves. Photo location:
