Seasonal allergies. HELP!
« on: May 08, 2013, 09:29:45 PM »
Iv tried it all and still suffer.
I did shots for two years, total waste of time!
I have tried every single type of pill and some herbal remedies.  Currently I manage on a nasal steroid spray, a 12 hour non drowsy decongestant. I also switch of btwn claritin, zyrtec and alavert. Plus I use eye drops Ketotifin. :'(

Im looking for something els that will actually work!

Wow, I feel ya. I've had bad allergies before. It can make you go insane.

They say the best thing is consistency. Taking your meds once a day and starting early. There are foods they say to eat and avoid that also may help.

Do you feel as though the meds help at all?

sure, im allergic to everything that grows. Did the shots, sat in a doc office twice a week for around 18 months! Didn't work!
They say it goes away with time, honestly it is better now than five years ago but still it like having a cold for ~4 months :'(

I've always been told you outgrow it only if you're younger.

Lucky guy. That's good. Than hopefully you will grow out of it.

Depending on where I am I get such bad allergies I literally want to rip my head off. Itchy nose, itchy throat, itchy eyes that feel like there's pieces in it. Itchy face!! And it doesn't stop, for a minute. I never appreciated how bad it could be until I got em myself.

It literally can make you go nuts.

Every time it gets hot out just walking outside can make me tense up because subconsciously I know what's coming.

I have better years than others.
And I can't stop being outside. I need to be outdoors so I suffer through it.

I think most people that have allergies have it mildly and a regular over the counter pill helps well enough.

I dunno, for me those pills dont do a thing. I did use "Singular" one year and it really helped. Most Docs dont even know that its really good for allergies. Problem was the side affects...

Try washing your face and hands multiple times a day. The pollen can be sticking to them and driving you crazy. Also btw claritin and alavert are the same. And if you are using a decongestant makes it is pseuoephedrine not phenylephrine. Anything that says PE is not good, you need the stuff behind the counter that you have to sign for.

Really? Just spent twenty bucks on alavert thought might be better than claritin.

Right, I have to give them my license for the PS
