The CEO of Waze said at a recent event that the rumors are just...... rumors. Until a deal is finalized, its all talk. Dont forget that when the Apple maps fell flat, they offered Waze 500 million and were turned down.

Yes I agree  :) Although as mentioned in the article they have a understanding for an agreement. Until it is signed and sealed anything can happen.

this is from the bloomberg article

Waze was started in Israel and later moved its headquarters and some operations to the U.S. The company’s investors include Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft Corp. (MSFT), people familiar said last month. Waze raised $30 million in 2011 in a funding round led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing’s Horizons Ventures Hong Kong. Earlier investors include Qualcomm Ventures, Magma Venture Partners and Vertex Venture Capital in Israel and BlueRun Ventures in Silicon Valley.

The amount has not yet been disclosed. I wonder if they are going to change the appearance of it maybe even have a street view option!

They won't necessarily do anything yet, they bought it just so Apple (or maybe Facebook) shouldn't get it.
Google map is pretty good as it is, the acquisition was a defensive measure.
