Do starwood points ever expire? Once you get a status upgrade with starwoods, is it for life?

status upgrades are typically last for a year (sometimes a longer depending on when you qualified or how you got upgraded..) they end in the end of February...

What happens after you cancel SPG...any way to keep the points but not pay the fee?
