Skeptical about this whole game

A friend of mine is very skeptical about this whole game. As much as I try to help him he still doesn't think it's smart to do this all (churning,dealing with points etc.). He tells me now "what do you have to say about a story I just heard on cnbc about airlines making it harder to earn miles and probably gettin rid of the current miles system?"

Any ideas of how to answer him to make him believe in this and get rid of his skepticism?

Is it true that airlines are getting rid of the current miles system? I can't see how that is true...

Need to prove some how its worth it and that newscasters sometimes dont know what they are saying...

Why don't you show them your mileage and ur points in your account wouldn't that be enough to sway them

Best thing to do, I find, is to convince them to open 1 credit card, SP for example.  I think people feel overwhelmed that there's so much to know and to keep track of.  Tell them to just open one credit card- it's not at all hard to keep track of (that's how I got hooked btw).

That is not the issue.  I got him a few cards already. 

The issue he is bringing up is regarding airlines. How it is harder to get reward seating and they want to switch to a more fair market system of rewards and within 5 years there wont be a points system with airlines.

I would say while this may be true it is still very beneficial to me playing this game.

I don't understand- just because something might or might not be around later on should stop one from acquiring
what they can now?!?
