Do not buy the cheap ones buy from hp only if you want longevity from your laptop.

I have purchased many times non geunine batteries and never had issues.

I would recommend purchasing from eBay from a Top Rated seller with good feedback.

I disagree I have had 2 extremely bad experiences ordering non genuine batteries and my friend who runs a fairly large repair center has told me countless stories of non genuine battery issues and too stay away.

I have seen genuine batteries leak too.

it is not as much of who the sellers are  the quality of the parts and the safety issues in relation to the battery. They may die or not last as long as  a genuine battery but that is not the biggest problem you get what you paid for A lithium cell internal short circuit can be quite an accident, the generic battery doesn't have the internal control circuitry to detect a thermal runaway.

Keep in mind the different sizes of batteries as some won's stay flush with your laptop.

This is a machlokes between professionals. Some people in the industry will tell you stay far away as there is way greater risk than reward to simplify. Others will tell you it's no big deal as long it's a trustworthy source as name changed has stated. Follow your instinct on this matter.
