You could get a Yongnuo YN468-II on Ebay for under $100 new. It does just about everything a Nikon does. You could even get theYN460-II for about $50 - it'll give you all the basics (TTL,  slave, etc.).

Is it worth it for a stage 2 shooter. I have issues a lot in dark lights.  Love my portraits and my kids photos. As well as my scenery shots. I just have a hard time using the camera in low light situations. When i use the flash its so obvious in the shots and ruins a lot of the lighting/coloring.

Though i love my d5100. (I had the t3i which i hated).

Don't be fooled. Owning expensive equipment doesn't turn you into a photographer.

Lol...but you do take great pics.
OTOH I have seen SLR pics that were far worse than my Elph takes.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

That happens often. Especially if the camera is on the wrong settings. But sometimes your elph will take a pic that looks nicer but isn't necessarily as true to life though it still may look better to most.

Some of my favorite pictures I've taken with my Canon Point and shoot.

I don't think that's the point. All cameras could take 'technically correct' pictures, even on full auto mode. What sets the pro apart is not just in knowing the settings, it's knowing how to make a compelling photograph - light, color, composition, etc. These have nothing to do with the camera.

Check out Digital Rev's cheap camera challenge -  they give world class pros $10  Buzz Lightyear cameras to shoot with and see what they come up with.

Well the pots that they use CAN make the food good or bad. Ive used both good and bad pots before ;)

still  in the full learning process, but yes. I can never get a good ISO. It ends up to grainy, and then when i use the flash it shows up to much. If i then set the apeture for more light to be needed them its blurry

Exactly. If you eat a good meal at someone's house, you compliment the chef, not his All Clad pots.  :)

1 -What ISO are you using? The D5100 should be pretty much noise free up to at least 800.
2 - A bigger flash well help you with that not due to the larger size,  but due to the fact that the light could be bounced, or better yet, taken off-camera.
3 - Blurry or fuzzy? A larger aperture (lower f-number) lets in MORE light, which reduces blur. If it's fuzzy, on the other hand, it's probably not in focus.  Large apertures have less of the picture in focus, and cameras have a harder time focusing in low light, so that may be your issue.

In everyone's defense the camera does make a difference to a some extent. Especially with shots of kids.
