Are you allowed to take to small claims court ?
Also if its a large amount , is there a limit in small claims court

If the guy refuses to come to Beis Din (or comply with their ruling) Beis Din will give you permission to take him to secular court.


Also if its a large amount , is there a limit in small claims court

While selecting a BD can be a painful process, suing a Jew in court is a terrible sin.
 (Unless sanctioned through a BD process.)

Start by asking your LOR, who you trust, which B'd he recommends. Remember that generally, if you consult with a dayan before the case he must recuse himself from sitting.
