+1 myself as well as all my friends where our diamond rings. I even kept it on when I was 9 months pregnant and it cut off my circulation. The only time I ever heard of someone not wearing her ring was when she lived in Israel for a year and put her ring in a safe and had a CZ made to replicate her ring. We get our rings insured and hope for the best :)

My wife normally wears her engagement ring, but not to work. She works in some pretty bad neighborhoods.

Sorry I guess either we live in different communities or just I'm not so attentive(=not married :P )
So I guess it can be embarrassing for a girl not to wear an engagement ring but it has nothing to do with religion just social norm.

Was just wondering what the reason is behind giving a diamond ring or for that matter any ring. Read that it was all started by a advertisement campaign, but there got to be more to it.
