The whole jewelry as an investment argument is weak at best. The most that can be said is that you're not just throwing your money away. It's likely to at least retain it's value, despite the fact that most people are unlikely to call upon that value (ie sell it) during their lifetimes.

I honestly have no idea, besides the fact that it's probably difficult to compare these things without being able to look at the books of each. This guy is (as far as I know) the sole owner of a diamond company that is a De Beers sightholder.

also some chassidim have "takonos" you must buy a cz
