Wife's maiden name getting approved

So I've been trying to get my wife approved for Amex and nothing was doing.(Ive Been applying for her with her married name) They Consistently turned her down saying they need her tax returns. Now I got a targeted offer from Amex In her maiden name. I applied today in her maiden name and she got approved Instantly for Starwood and the gold. Does that make any Sense?

Did she change her legal name? Social Security? Drivers License? Passport?
Does she have a credit history with her maiden name?

No Changes at all same social etc. Im not even sure that she has any credit history at all with her maiden name

I could be wrong but if the SS doesn't match the name, that might be why they are making issues with the married name.

+1. we file taxes under her maiden name cuz we are too lazy too change social and mail in marriage license and passport. Never been an issue getting approved.

we left drivers license on maiden name but changed passport to married name
