Churchhill, Manitoba to see the Polar bears

Has anyone been to Churchhill to see the Polar Bears? I see online the tours are in the 2$k to the $5K range..

Has been on my bucket list for the past few years. I would have to guess if you got there by yourself that you can see the bears for cheaper.

LOL Im sure if you go there by yourself you can be the bears snack too  :D

I meant if you fly there and book you own hotels I am sure that once you are in Manitoba you can see them for less than 2k. There is no reason why it has to cost so much.
