+1 the MMJ grow op idea. The people who are in position when marijuana is legalized from a federal level will make boatloads of cash.

The main products that carry a large advantage being underground are watches, alcohol, and cigarettes.

Alcohol is probably the easiest with low regulatory risk, low captial outlay, and minimal knoweldge required.

I live in queens.  i think a jewelery (lower end) or silver store may work.  One obvious issue however is that you make your house much more of a target to be broken in to.
