Honeymoon trip

Helping a friend plan a honeymoon trip and wanted to hear some of your ideas on what would be your ideal honeymoon destination.

Obviously everyone enjoys different activities but I was thinking about a few weeks in a rented cottage in Provence or Tuscany.  Or a few weeks roaming around a quieter place like Ireland.

What's your idea?

All depends on weather, which depends on the climate. So what time of year do they wish to travel?

They're open to any time. Wedding is in August but they don't mind postponing a few months. They just wanted ideas.

There are few things as expensive as a villa in Provence/Tuscany

Commonplace on these forums is Thailand or the Maldives with a stop in Singapore or Hong Kong which makes for a great trip in CX or SQ F. BOB if doable is amazing as well.

There are cheaper cottages you can rent. I've looked into it previously.

Even if the cottages are nice, you are paying a bloody fortune for everything else there

Few places on earth that rival the beauty of MLE.

Add that to the fact that you can fly there on some of the best products on earth (contrasted with BOB) and its a winner for a honeymoon.

And I'd still give LIH the nod for most people.
Sure it's not going to rival MLE for sheer remoteness that honeymooners crave, but it's a heckuva lot closer and cheaper mileage-wise and cash-wise.  Plus there's tons of kosher food. 
Both destinations are beautiful though in very different ways.

If you've got the miles and the cash go for MLE, but I sure didn't when I planned my honeymoon and don't regret picking HI for a second.

I like the royal honeymoon idea, North Island, Seychelles.

It's the cash component that your typical newlywed would be better off saving towards a down payment or life insurance, etc.

You'll looking at a minimum of $5,000 for a week in a OWB in MLE with transfers and tax.  Is the OWB worth $5K? That depends on your financial situation but you can live like a king in LIH in a GHK or SRP suite.

Newlyweds don't need life insurance, and I did MLE for nearly half your $5k quote, including transfer and tax.

The fact is, both are good choices, and it depends on one's desire/wherewithal to spend a little, stay in an OWB, travel time, and points situation.
