Any tips for packing a lulav in a way that it won't get posul?

Use a hard sided case. Have flown like that many times without incident.

I just bought this lulav and esrog holder that's insulated (so need to take out hadassim and erovos). It's pretty strong and it holds lulav and has pouch for esrog.

you packed it in the suitcase like that? Because according to an article on matzav Israel doesn't let you in with a lulav, hadasim, or aravos. Only an esrog so I'm gonna pack it in my suitcase and hope not to get checked by customs

I've used this trick for overweight hand luggage many times without incident. When I go up to the luggage counter I wheel the cart with my luggage up and as I unload it all I stow my overweight carry on behind the counter where the agent cant see it and when they ask to weigh my hand luggage I weigh my little knapsack I am carrying. When my luggage is finished being weighed I unobtrusively wheel my hand luggage from behind the counter along with me. By then the agent is always looking at the next person in line and not paying attention to me

+1 works like a charm. I usually point to my knapsack when they ask me if I have a carry on and they usually don't even bother weighing it.

Who weighs hand luggage?
IME Turkish and Elal.

With TK I explained I was entitled to take 4 more pieces on to the plane with me and if they give me a hard time I would just take up the overhead space with more bags, they let me on with what I had.

With Elal when they couldn't get me on overweight on a bag they insisted it was too big and I that I had to pay to check it. After a long argument they finally agreed to take it to the measuring device and lo and behold it fit.   ::)

Any thoughts on the travel scales that have gone all digital?

Ive owned my Travelon Luggage scale since this post (http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/4707) in March 2009. It has worked great for me on many trips. I just gave mine away to a family member thinking i could easily just buy a new one...seems they have all gone digital :o

JJ reffered to this one (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008327KZU/?tag=cl03f-20) in this thread. Some of the reviews mention that the hook is small and weight is not accurate. Im also concerned about the batttery dying while on the go.
Should i buy the same one (looks pretty similar: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001CZP22S/?tag=cl03f-20) on amazon for $10 or are the new digital ones really better and cheaper?
