I've used this trick for overweight hand luggage many times without incident. When I go up to the luggage counter I wheel the cart with my luggage up and as I unload it all I stow my overweight carry on behind the counter where the agent cant see it and when they ask to weigh my hand luggage I weigh my little knapsack I am carrying. When my luggage is finished being weighed I unobtrusively wheel my hand luggage from behind the counter along with me. By then the agent is always looking at the next person in line and not paying attention to me

Thanks for the tip! Was almost too easy!

True. I was referring to El Al.

Well, at TLV last night, I tried hiding my rolling bag behind the counter. The agent asked if I had "any other carry-ons besides your briefcase" so I was pretty stuck. I weighed it (it was 8.5 kilo) and she tagged it. Before boarding, the gate agent asked if I would like to check my rolling bag. I said "no thank you" and she said that "next time, you can only bring one carry-on aboard". My question is which next time she was referring to.

I honestly don't understand how El Al expects to charge premium prices for such a cheap and mediocre product. The only edge they really have is the scheduling (leaving JFK at noon is nothing short of awesome) and their alleged security. Otherwise, their planes are really old, their mileage program stinks, and they just become more and more unfriendly as time goes on.

pack a towel. although every hotel you go to will provide you with however many you need, ive used towels countless times either on way to hotel or after checking out when making an impromptu swimming hole stop, beach, waterfall...

-.5 I once used this and had my knapsack tagged & not my heavy carry on. Afterwards, I simply took the tag off my knapsack and put it on my carry on

I went through security last week at TLV and I took out my Priority Pass and I told them I have worldwide priority for security and lounges and she let me go through the business line.
The truth is this is the second time I tried it but the first time 3 weeks ago it didn't work.

I always just say I'm flying business (when I actually am) and they let me in. They never asked to see my boarding pass so technically I don't see them stopping anyone

I think they ask to see boarding pass, but where this could work is by checkin security of Elal, you could just say business and they let you through, they ask you the security question and then they you go to the back inside the room to check in at the counter they see what class flying but they have never told me a word.

Countless flights and they never asked me.  I'm assuming they profile, they decide if they think you belong there

best thing I've seen was getting a crazy jumbo ziplock bag and leaving a little bit of air... That way the suit doesn't get "pressed the way you don't want it by the weight of the other bags.

I believe it's better even if you don't have a ziplock to fold it neatly and put it in some sort of plastic supposedly it helps avoid wrinkling

Folding it in a plastic from the cleaners helps avoid wrinkling.

I'm surprised there's no wiki anywhere for airlines' unofficial luggage limits (e.g. Plastic Bag Rule). Personally, I don't have much experience since I can check in lots of bags for free, but I'm sure lots of others do.

What's the plastic bag rule?
Check-in extras. If overweight just put stuff in plastic bags and carry them. They don't seem to have any real limit on how many you can carry
