Friend was on a small commuter flight, and they made everyone gate check their carryons. They took out a bag of food, a laptop, and a small garment bag, to take on board. Gate agent started making an issue that you cant carry on so many items.

When I took LY last summer JFK-TLV, I brought a laptop bag and a rolling carryon (in addition to checked baggage). Ex-JFK, I had no issues (not even the checked luggage which was overweight 1-2 kgs.). Ex-TLV, the ticket agent issued tags for both bags after weighing the rolling one. The gate agent then gave me a hard time with carrying on two bags, but left me off with a warning for next time.

To bring an old thread back to life...

I have pretty big shoes (but not as big as @Something Fishy's and I'm trying to figure out a better way to pack them. Currently, I put each show into its own grocery bag and stick along wall of suitcase, but they still take up a ton of room. What works for you?

Stuff em full of stuff and the space they effectively take up is minimal. I typically fit a week's worth of underwear in a single boot.

socks also work for stuffing into shoes
helps keep the shoe from not getting crushed as well

Couldn't find a thread about luggage scales, hence I think this board would do..

Anyone have recommendations for a luggage scale?

What do you guys use? or is the one that you recommend as I see there are hundreds to choose from.

I think there was one, but can't find it.

In terms of the luggage scale, Amazon Basics is simple and does the job.

I always travel with a separate small bag for my in-flight essentials: headphones, phone charger, pillow (the middle one here), some snacks, and a couple other random things.

Normally both my carry-on bags are full with stuff I won't check in, so the stuff I need for the flight itself goes in a separate small bag. I've been using plastic shopping bags, and more recently, the bag United's amenity kit comes in. I tie it to my carry-on and have never been stopped. Both carry-ons go in the bin, and the small bag stays with me.

I'm sick and tired of these bags...

Anyone have a recommendation for a case or pouch that would hold the stuff listed above? It needs to be small and have an easy way to connect to a regular carry-on.

That's essentially a small duffle bag... I need something a lot smaller, preferably with a couple of pockets to keep stuff organized.

this is packable meaning only is as big as what u put in but indeed doesnt have many pockets
