#1 I hope you didn't think that I was really trying to compare a d'oiriesa to making a kidish, just I thought that making a kidish for a baby girl is something that everybody does and it has strong m'koires so I thought that anybody who says that you don't don't have to make a kidish that it comes from total ignorance therefore I compared it to a bris.

But I see now that I wasn't that right ( I don't have girls yet so I never reviewed this subject ),

He lives in Williamsburg, he's a massive Talmud chuchem.
He has this שו"ת on the entire hilches shabess which I use very often cause it's 100% practical shales.

A "Kiddush" is a loophole to eat before the seudas shabbos. Kiddush is supposed to be made on a real seuda. The whole concept involves many complications in hilchos berochos.

They say from reb Yaakov that the reason why there is a minhag to make a lechaim etc on a yhourtzit is because originally the minhag was to fast on a yhourtzeit, when that became to difficult they made a siyum and a lechayim for the siyum, now we are left with just the lechaim.
Point is that yidden like making lechayims, any excuse if fine by me.
