Can someone help with a first time award ticket?
« on: July 14, 2010, 09:54:33 AM »
I'm looking to go from TLV to Paris with my wife, but the tickets for the days we want are over $800 (if we don't go by Turkish).
Dates would be July 25-29, OR Aug 1-5

I have never booked an award ticket in my life, but it seems that  most airline mile go for about 1.5, and the charts I saw it looks like it should be 40k. 1.5*40k=$600+fees

So I guess it would  be more kdai to buy miles, all I have is ~31k US, 10k *W. Which I don't know if it's worth to use right now.

Whats the cheapest airline to do this with?

Both AA (partners with elal) and US are both 40k miles r/t. ANA is 38k but there fees might be higher.
In truth, I'd say it epends where you'll find availability is  alliance your going to have to go with, there may be no choice.
Just relise that it may not come out that much cheaper.

Is there a way to search OW, or I have to search each airline separately. I'm not finding coach available in *a

I'm looking at Elal on Expert Flyer. There are only direct flights out of Israel on the 1st, nothing returning. I'm looking at another couple of options.

What did you find on *A? Any segments?

These are the flights I found on Elal for the outbound, Sun 1st:

TLV-CDG LY221 1:10am-5:00am
TLV-CDG LY323 9:00am-12:50pm
TLV-CDG LY325 5:00pm-9:00pm
TLV-CDG LY329 7:10pm-11:15pm

Still have to figure how to get you home, I'm working on it.
Just wanted to post just in case someone else is looking up OW.

Only return so far is on Wed 11 Aug:

ORY-MAD IB3401 6:45am-8:40am
MAD-TLV IB3754 10:10am-3:45pm

@Chaikel, would you mind staying for shabbos if there is availability on say, Thursday 5th?
Or if you don't mind shabbos and be there 10 days you've got a ticket.

Shabbos in Paris is very nice!
There's a Chabad House right on the Camps Elysees that has great food and a great shabbos meal for cheap.

And we met up there with a few other nice young american and israeli couples ss well and had a blast comparing trip notes and stuff!

ITA is pulling it up for 07/25-07/29 but it's booked in coach for TLV-ATH and business for ATH-CDG and I can't seem to get any search engines to book it like that...

If you go to Paris, staying in the PHP Vendome is an absolute must.  It was one of our favorite parts of Paris!

They're all avail on AF for 15k each way. Nothing available when searching DL
ITA is pulling it up for 07/25-07/29 but it's booked in coach for TLV-ATH and business for ATH-CDG and I can't seem to get any search engines to book it like that...
