1. As far as I know, he/they won that Nov. game (that started in October).
They won despite him, not because of him. Pulling Hendricks WAY too soon, getting stuck using Chapman for way too long, a night after using him for way too long did burn him. Bunting on a 3-2 pitch with a guy on third is an all-time mess-up.
Give me Rizzo, Bryant, Schwarber, Zobrist, Russell, Arrietta, Lester, etc for a year to manage and let's see what happens.
2. If the closer can only go one inning - then, on the road you have to save closer for the save. There is more pressure to pitch in a save situation than to get one out with two outs in a tie game.
Silly. If you think Davis > Lackey (going back to back nights, no less), then you only have a save situation if you ensured one by using your best pitcher. Otherwise, you have no save situation because you lost with an inferior pitcher. If Davis gets through the 9th, maybe they score 3 in the 10th and don't need a high end pitcher, but you know that right now you're in a do or die inning. Even if you somehow missed that and survived two outs, with the winning run on 2nd and the Dodgers best hitter(s) coming up, that would be a great opportunity to fix your mistake.
3. In order to appreciate first ask yourself who is the only team in the last three years to make it to the LCS.
Meh. As above, fun to give manager credit but team is pretty well-built, if not perfect.
