Looks like a few more egregious strike calls against the dodgers, but a few egregious ball calls against Houston.
I have seen these charts before, and I don't understand how the vertical lines (from 1.5 to 3.4 feet here?) of the boxes are drawn here, as by mlb rules, that is not the strike zone. It is a subjective measure and depends on the height of the batter.

Also wondered that. Would the lines be the same for altuve and judge?

Reminds me of the time a cousin went with a friend to buy a kittel. He is 6.4, weighs 300+. The friend was 5.5, probably weighs himself on a food scale. The salesman points then to the kittels and they ask where the different sizes are.

Salesman looks up and nonchalantly says, "they're one size fits all" and walks off.

Do they track bonehead decisions by managers?
They used too, but some moron broke the scales last year.

It is a subjective measure and depends on the height of the batter.
"The Strike Zone is that area over home plate the upper limit of which is a horizontal line at the midpoint between the top of the shoulders and the top of the uniform pants, and the lower level is a line at the bottom of the knees. The Strike Zone shall be determined from the batter's stance as the batter is prepared to swing at a pitched ball."

Correct. This is also why we can't trust tv trackers (fox trax etc) for high/low calls which stay static for judge and altuve.

The TV trackers are using the same pitch f/x data, iinm.

I feel like there is an easy answer we are missing. It's too obvious a problem.

Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

First of all, I think some (if not all) of them switched to Statcast. But more importantly, does Statcast (or PITCHf/x) stay static, or does it adjust for stance in some way?

Trying to dig into this because I agree. For starters, it seems you are right that the tv trackers use statcast, and it seems the zone is supposed to adjust for each hitter's height. Still curious about how the system is audited and the error, if any.

I would say adjust or it looked that way.

Not such a bold prediction, though in this series everything feels bold: Verlander (and probably Hill) get the decision in this game one way or the other.

Just going to sit back and enjoy the game but never bet against V. Brokers are praying for a game 7 so they hedge their position by betting on Houston.
