My 9 year old won the game for his little league team last night with a great defensive play at 2nd which stopped the tying run from crossing the plate.
I'd be mad at him if he goofed like that!

How do you engage in that kind of run-down? It seems like the 1bman didn't know the rules, but where are his teammates?
Why did the catcher try to tag the guy scoring? He also doesn't know the rules? Ignore him! Tag Baez!
If you are the 2bman or pitcher - and you are watching this - a) why aren't you yelling your head off to just throw to first base and b) once you see how committed the 1bman is to the illusion, how do you not cover first base?
Lastly - don't let Baez completely off the hook - what the heck is he doing "celebrating" that safe call as if he's not a tag out away from it not counting? He should have sprinted to first the second the ball left the first baseman's hand? TBH I wanted to give Baez a lot of credit but that put a blemish on the art of the whole thing for me lol.

It wasn't some master stroke of genius by Baez - he clearly thinks that if the runner touches home the run scores whether or not Baez gets to first, Baez gives the safe sign and stands around for a couple of seconds before taking off for first again. He just didn't know the rules...

Pretty sure that if he has tagged him after the run crossed the plate the run would’ve counted. It’s only a force at first that would’ve negated the run

Tagging him before he reaches first accomplishes the same thing as tagging first, he is a forced runner so if he is retired to end the inning, runs scored before on same play don't count

It's funny, but at the same time sad, like you said it's MLB how does such a mistake happen.
  If the 1st basemen was so into tagging the runner, he could have waited vs tagging the base, instead like a dunce he ran after the goose.
  1st baseman bloopered, then 2nd and then the next guy! Usually how it goes, one guy misses the ball then they all miss the ball.

   At the end of the day I do see where the runner cought the 1st baseman off guard by running the other way.
 Not sure if that was done on purpose or just the way of reacting when you're going to get tagged.
  I don't watch enough baseball to know if that's a common occurrence where the runner which is running to first turns back instead of getting tagged?
 I've seen them skip 1st base to run around first base but not turn back usually.

I've seen it before for sure - perhaps like you said out of instinct or some gamesmanship. This is the first time I have ever seen the first baseman actually run after the runner.

Clearly Baez confused the heck out of everyone, including himself. You've never seen a rundown between first and home before because it would be futile. But Baez is the kinda guy who isn't gonna just run to first, but is gonna turn around and turn everyone's brains to mush
